MULTI-LAYER ENGINEERED FLOORING

Engineered multi-layer flooring consists of two or three layers of wood glued together. Typically, hardwood is used for the top, visible layer, while softwood or plywood is used for the lower layers. Engineered parquet is also known as finished parquet as the floor or space can be used immediately after laying the parquet. Surface treatment of the planks with lacquer, oil, or other coatings is done before installation. Due to its multi-layered construction, engineered parquet is very stable, and material expansion is limited to a minimum.

At Eccoles, we offer engineered flooring with an upper layer of oak or ash in various qualities and surface finishes. The thickness of the upper top layer of hardwood is usually between 3 and 5 mm, allowing for multiple sandings and ensuring a long lifespan.

Upon request and for specific projects, we can also offer three-layered parquet or two-layered parquet in traditional Chevron or Herringbone patterns.

TWO-LAYER OR THREE-LAYERED PARQUET?

We offer engineered parquet in two or three layers. The choice also depends somewhat on the height of your screed and specific requirements. Installing two-layer parquet is a bit more difficult, as the smaller board sizes usually need to be glued together perfectly, but this type of parquet is more durable in the long run. If considering underfloor heating, the two-layered design is most recommended as it optimally utilizes the heating performance. Three-layered parquet results in some heat loss.

ADVANTAGES OF THREE-LAYERED FLOORING?

Three-layered parquet stands out for its long lifespan and high stability. The joint or click connection of the planks makes installation very easy. Additionally, the project is completed quickly and without dust. Engineered parquet can be laid floating or fully glued. Oak parquet impresses with modernity, elegance, and a high-quality appearance. As the surface of the planks is already finished before laying, time spent sanding and oiling or varnishing the parquet is saved.

Eccoles’ core product range consists of high quality two-layer parquet, made from a 3.6mm oak or ash top layer and birch plywood, which further increases the stability of the parquet. The parquet is available in various qualities, dimensions, surface finishes and colours. We can also offer you three-layer parquet based on spruce or fir.
